2013 Student Networking & Participation Contest!

Communication Week is here!   As in past years, we’re conducting a contest for all our students.  You can gain points for the following activities, with a focus on networking with our guests:

  • Business cards you gather through direct contact with guests
  • Kudos from our guests (through their own observation and notes)
  • Evidence of follow-up contact with guests (e-mail, letters, social media contacts, etc. – the more personal, the better)
  • Signing up in advance for networking time (in the main office) and following through on that commitment (loss of points for not following through)
  • Attending networking events even if you haven’t signed up
  • Other verifiable activity, such as pitching your own Communication Week promotional or networking activity (in student groups, etc.), participation above and beyond the call of duty in class (through questions, discussion, other participation, etc.)

For those activities that we don’t track ourselves (through kudo cards and sign-up/attendance sheets), you’ll need to bring evidence of your participation by the Division of Communication office (CAC 225) by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8.  Complete information on how to do that is at the desk, but you’ll need to drop off your business cards (we’ll return them) and any copies necessary to verify your activities (screen shots, printed e-mail copies, etc.).

Students can receive:

  • 1st place: Two tickets to any Performing Arts Series event of your choice, a professional business card holder, and a ticket to the division’s spring banquet
  • 2nd place: A professional business card holder and a ticket to the division’s spring banquet
  • 3rd Place: A ticket to the division’s spring banquet

Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity now through Thursday!
